Foliage
- Large, broad, flat, leaves which are deeply incised and irregularly serrated and cut give them a fern-like appearance.
- In spring, the leaves are a deep, dark green turning to a beautiful scarlet and holding onto the tree well into autumn.
Flowers
Large purplish-red flowers are borne in clusters before the leaves emerge in spring.
Usage
- A great feature tree for any garden, group or mass planting.
- Also looks nice planted in groups with other maples, Japanese gardens and general garden planting.

- Grow in full sun to part shade.
- Prefers moist, well-drained soil and protection from hot winds.
- Cultivate well before planting with compost/cow manure and mulch well after planting.
